Rene I agree with TL...some of us are taught from birth to honor and respect all living things. We just choose to explore and practice many things...

I had to smile after reading the posts.....
I would have to agree with Quest, most of us do honor the and respect all living things.
If you read my intro, you know that I had a different start in life, being both "Catholic" and a Pagan of sorts. I think that sometimes labels can
be confusing... when I was a young girl I was taught in Catholic school (which I fondly refer to as my "hell on earth") that anyone who was Pagan
would go to hell...Well, all I knew that was anyone who didn't believe in the teachings of Catholics were Pagans, but oh crap ! Ummm, lets see where
do you go when you believe in the Saints, Jesus, faeries, dragons, Gods and Goddesses etc ? All I knew was that I didn't plan on going to heaven or
hell, I wanted to go where the faeries had endless summers of frolicking and fun. sounded like heaven was like being in hell because it was 24 hr a
day church forever. And mom and I were certainly not going there ! Neither one of us liked to step foot in a church ! (me especially, since dad used
to joke and say that the roof of the church would fall down on us and kill us if we ever did.)
I guess what I'm trying to say is that we all are Pagans of a sort, whether or not we are witches, vampires, new agers etc. we all have one thing in
common, we choose not to choose a narrow, Christian path. (and for people who are Christian, note I said Narrow, meaning judgmental)
I like reading about how others see their own paths and celebrate their own beliefs /lifestyles or whatever they choose to call it. I think that as
Pagans we are much more tolerant and wiser than the BAC's who think that anyone who doesn't think and do as they do are wrong, we are each unique
and contribute flavor to the mix. So bring on the witches, faeries, vampires, new agers, ceremonial magicians etc. You can't have light without
darkness or darkness without light. It's all good.
and yes, Renegade, sometimes I too get a little tired of the flowery language. especially since I am rather boring and plain spoken...but what would
the world be without Shakespeare ?

Greetings, 'SmallOne'.
AllbusBarba here.....
I understand your situation quite well. I never knew I was 'different' till years after my last time in 'church'. Being 'different' can be -
at the same time - both a blessing as well as a 'curse'.
Here you will find a 'safe harbour'.
Read back through the topics & entries. There is so very much to be learned here.
As AlbusBarba I add my quietly discrete welcome. May you find what you seek here. Benedictus continuata.....

I have to correct here. WE are not all Pagan's or even come close to it. I bet there were a few here that when they read that they had a convulsion.

Ha ! you most certainly right, not everyone considers themselves to be Pagan.
Guess my old Catholic definition of "Pagan" side blinded me. You know, if you're not Christian, you are Pagan.... blah blah blah.

Good afternoon, thought I would stop by and see what was brewing on the board. Seems to be the same same.
Society does seem to lump things into categories. When my children were younger I was a very quiet and solitary about my beliefs. It wasn't until
being taken under the wing of MR what seems like eons ago. That I started sharing my beliefs with very close individuals.
So to MR I send kudos for her strength and support.

This topic has definately sparked my interest. I went into the "What path do you travel" but there wasn't much to read. ,
I guess I should ask what is a Pagan, instead. I know the most basic definition of Pagans being caretakers of the earth who love nature, animals etc.
but I also know that there is so much more to it. Coming from a very limited definition of Caholisism, I'd say I need a tune up.
(ummm, is this the place to post this ?)
